Samsung Expects To Maintain Its Advantage In Soft Amoled Capacity By 2022

Flexible AMOLED has become the mainstream technology for smartphones and smartwatch panels. In particular, Apple's smartphones have accelerated their investment in soft AMOLED panels after their display panels shifted to soft AMOLED technology . On the other hand, the operating profit margin of the AMOLED panel of Samsung Display (SDC) has generally remained at 15-20% in recent years, outperforming the vast majority of TFT LCD manufacturers and increasing the incentive for other companies to invest in soft AMOLEDs.

DIGITIMES Research observes that almost all investment in AMOLED panels for small and medium size in the world will begin in 2017 toward soft or production lines that produce both rigid and rigid AMOLEDs.

According to the current Samsung AMOLED flexible display capacity development, it is estimated that by the end of 2019 Samsung has a soft AMOLED production capacity will be sufficient to meet customer needs. Outside A2 ~ A4, Samsung monitors have not yet confirmed the production of A5 new factory (same as A3 and A4 for 6th generation), but it has a capacity of 270,000 pieces per month due to full load of A5 factory. Samsung is not in a hurry to ramp up the production schedule of A5 plants in advance.
